English Language Development Mission

The mission of the English Language Development Program (ELD) at Red Bluff High School (RBHS) is to provide quality instructional support, guidance, and ensure the academic success of English Learners (ELs).  This entails the implementation of proven, research-based instructional strategies to meet the academic needs of the ELs which is based on individually assessed needs.  In addition to academic instruction, the RBHS ELD Program is dedicated to the continuing engagement and involvement of parents of ELs.  Parental engagement is a key factor in the partnering success of our students.  This support includes the establishment of functioning English Learner Advisory Committees (ELAC) and the creation of a welcoming environment for English Learners and their families.  Again, parental engagement is monumental for our program, so we provide support and collaboration with ELAC and the Academia de padres (Parent Academy).

Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is one that develops a culture for students that allows the acquisition of skills and knowledge that will lead to lifelong learners.  Transitioning each student successfully to higher education or the workplace, and becoming a productive member of society is the goal.  To accomplish this, it is important that each one of my students has equal opportunity and access to this process.

I currently serve the community of Red Bluff High School as an ELD teacher. At RBHS my assignments have included World Language Department Chair, ELD levels: Emerging, Expanding, and Bridging, EL Vocabulary Development Lab, Academic Literacy Lab (Achieve3000), Edmentum/PLATO Credit Recovery, CyberHigh and Spanish for Spanish Speakers 2.  I also provide EL and Spanish support through the after school program known as ASSETS.
